Tuscany. Casale Marittimo

Tuscany. Casale Marittimo

There’s one thing I have in mind when thinking about Casale Marittimo - Dosaggio Zero (Piazza del Popolo 16) with beautiful Barbara, her husband Valter, and their partner. They have the created region’s finest wine bar that serves excellent coffee, snacks, some food, mind blowing wine, and totally to die for tiramisu (they were happy to share the recipe here). It is a place that just sucks you in with all the great champagnes, Franciacorta, wines, and food. You can sit there from morning till evening, starting with cappuccino and ending with grappa.

Just to finish their songs of praise, there’s also great little and amazing Taverna Via di mezzo (Via di Mezzo 5), which serves only local dishes such as Tuscan snails, wild boar pasta, a selection of cheese or prosciutto, truffle pasta, and so much more. It’s the first stop we had after a 14 h drive from Austria to Casale and it always will be, because nothing tastes as good as their home wine and the fresh food they have. And for everyday shopping (be sure to understand the working hours, as I did not), there’s a local butcher across the street from Dosaggio – they have the most amazing salsiccia and other meats.
